Our Story
The vision for TeroAI began in 2013 at the University of Cambridge. During his doctoral research, our founder, Dr. Christopher Hooton, identified a persistent gap between academic spatial theory and real-world application. He saw that while the world was awash in geographic data, the tools to analyze it at scale were too slow, too specialized, and too expensive to be useful outside of traditional GIS applications and long-term academic research.
After a decade of working at the intersection of economic geography and data science, Dr. Hooton finally discovered the technical breakthrough. TeroAI was born from the realization that large-scale geodata didn’t need better maps, it needed a better brain.
Dr. Hooton has spent his career leading data-driven initiatives in big tech, global organizations, and national policy groups. With TeroAI, he has distilled that expertise into a platform that bridges the gap between complex GIS systems and high-stakes decision-making. Today, TeroAI stands as the culmination of over a decade of research, aimed at making the world’s spatial data easy to find and use by everyone, with applications for every industry.
